Fasciolopsis buski (large intestinal fluke)
This large fluke is found in the small intenstine of humans and pigs, in the Orient. The life cycle parallels that of F. hepatica. In asia, people become infected by eating certain uncooked nuts or fruits of aquatic plants which have metacercariae encysted on them. Human infections in these countries have been as high as 40%. In 1947, there were an estimated 10 million people infected with F. buski.
