Pratylenchus (lesion nematode) (1) live under dissecting microscope, (2) slide under compound microscope, (3) preserved material described below -

(a) Pratylenchus penetrans in Dahlia tuber, (b) in apple root.

(b) Pratylenchus vulnus damage to olive root is shown. Note the brown lesion where the root is cut.

(c) Pratylenchus brachyurus damage to peanuts. The main damage here is loss of the peanuts because of the dark colored lesions on their shells. Some loss of yield of the plants also occurs.

(d) Nacobbus dorsalis (false root knot nematode). This nematode is related to Pratylenchus (lesion nematode), same family, no separate descriptive sheet. Two life cycles per year (1) Larvae migratory - female sedentary and (2) Larvae and adult female sedentary. Observe preserved roots of Erodium cicutarium.
